Were you bullied as a kid?

How does it make you feel to think about your kids being bullied or maybe they are the one doing the bullying?

Bullying can cause a cascade of problems...

from lack of self-confidence, to low grades, school shootings and even childhood suicide. This was the devistating case of an 11-year-old boy last school year who was constantly treated with

disrespect and was made fun of on the bus daily and at school.

And sadly this has been on a rise.

While we often shrug off a joke, bullying takes it to the extreme.

This is why teaching and sharing the importance of kindness, respect, and gratitude are essential to your child's happiness, the happiness of children and others around them, as well as the prevention of many tragedies that bullying can lead to such as childhood suicde and school shootings.

It starts with us.We are the leaders. We are the teachers.

PREVENTION IS THE KEY.

Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience:

  • Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, social, emotional, academic, and mental health issues.

  • Researchers found that victims of bullying had significantly higher chances of developing new psychosomatic and psychosocial problems over the course of a school year compared with children who were not bullied.

  • Depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy. These issues may persist into adulthood.

  • Health complaints

  • Decreased academic achievement—GPA and standardized test scores—and school participation. They are more likely to miss, skip, or drop out of school.

  • A very small number of bullied children might retaliate through extremely violent measures. In 12 of 15 school shooting cases in the 1990s, the shooters had a history of being bullied.

While bullying can cause many problems, we can also help prevent it by instilling kindness, respect, and gratitude in our kiddos and ourselves.

Each book also has a fun activity in the back to help instill the lesson and keep the conversation going, which is critical in helping kids navigate their feelings and environment.

It has been shown that when elementary students performed three acts of kindness per week, they significantly increased their acceptance of peers compared to kids who did not perform three kind acts of kindness. Students who are taught compassion are more empathic, more socially aware, and connected and receive higher grades.
